A joint initiative started by Kajiado First Lady, Dr Edna Lenku and the Kitengela Municipality Manager,Josephine Nashipae, over the weekend, has already benefited 200 families in Kitengela.
The First Lady together with Ms Nashipae and Kitengela MCA Paul Matuyia and his Oloosirkon Sholinke counterpart Marush Kisemei, offered food and non-food support to the families drawn from various estates in Kitengela town.
The food was purchased with support offered by well wishers through the Pay Bill Number (722389) of Equity Bank’s Business Number ( 247247).
Dr Lenku said the public-driven initiative was complementing the efforts being done by the County Government’s Emergency Unit as well as the upcoming support by the National Government.
“The initiative means that each one of us who is not directly affected can offer something to those affected. We have chosen to be our brothers and sisters keepers,” said Dr Lenku.
The First Lady said in addition to the food support, the Initiative had also engaged with partners to offer medical support to the flood victims. “We are coming for medical camps in the affected areas,” she said.
